Find Jefferson County Inmates

Jefferson County inmate search options focus on the current county jail roster, not every past arrest or every state and federal custody record. The Jefferson County jail roster search can identify adults currently held in county custody, while former inmate records, booking paperwork, state-prison custody, and federal custody require separate request or lookup channels. Inmate records may include booking status, charges, bond information, and facility details, but the information changes quickly. A careful search uses the roster, phone verification, records requests, and the correct custody system for the person's case.

Jefferson County Jail Roster

The Jefferson County inmate lookup page is operated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. It displays inmates currently in custody at the Jefferson County Detention Facility and excludes people under 18. JCSO states that inmate information updates every 15 minutes, but also warns that the data can change quickly and that identity can only be confirmed by fingerprint comparison.

The direct lookup interface at inmatelookup.jeffco.us is the roster search route assigned in the research. Former inmate information is not the same as a current roster result. For prior booking, release, jail, incident, or detention records not shown online, use the Sheriff's records process and NextRequest. For sentenced state-prison or parole custody, use the Colorado Department of Corrections offender locator. Federal defendants and prisoners use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator.

The manifest assigns the official Jefferson County jail information page to this inmate records page.

Search Jefferson County Inmates

Use the sheriff roster for current county custody. The lookup accepts last name, first name, or booking date, and the research notes that results may display as a user types. If a name search is uncertain, call 303-271-5444 for inmate information, bond, custody status, or court-date questions. Phone search may use name, date of birth, or booking date.

  1. Open the Jefferson County Sheriff's inmate lookup page or the direct roster interface.
  2. Enter a last name, first name, booking date, or a combination of those fields.
  3. Review current-custody results and remember that juveniles under 18 are not searchable.
  4. Use the booking number or jail ID when sending mail, adding money, or scheduling approved services.
  5. Call the jail information line before taking legal action based on a roster result.

The Sheriff inmate lookup page is also one of the assigned visual sources.

The lookup screenshot source is useful because it shows the official entry point and the county's warnings about updates, age restrictions, and verification.

Jefferson County Inmate Fields

The roster search is simple, but the fields have limits. A name may match more than one person, and a booking date alone may not identify a person without more detail. The reset control clears a search. The search button starts lookup when live typeahead is not enough.

Jefferson County Inmate Profiles

JCSO descriptions and direct portal snippets identify the main public-facing inmate record fields. The research did not retain a person-specific profile and did not confirm public mugshots, so mugshots should not be expected as a guaranteed roster feature. Court date information can change, and JCSO directs users to contact the detention facility for the most current status, bail, or court-date details.

Jefferson County Jail Facility

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office operates the Jefferson County Detention Facility. JCSO describes it as one of Colorado's largest county jails, with about 1,300 inmate capacity and 388,000 square feet. The facility opened in 1986, expanded in 1999, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.

Administrative offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed county holidays. Non-emergency dispatch is 303-980-7300, and TTY is 303-980-7335. The jail and the Jefferson Combined Court sit near each other on the county campus, but jail records, bond questions, and court records are handled by different offices.

Jefferson County Booking and Bond

Booking creates the jail side of an inmate record. It is distinct from the full court case file and from court charges after arrest. The roster can show custody status and charges, while the court record later shows filings, hearings, plea, disposition, and sentence. For the court charge path after booking, the related Jefferson County arrest records and charges page is the better record path.

Bond can be posted at the detention facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week. JCSO lists cash bond, surety bond, personal recognizance bond, PR bond with co-signer, and credit-card bond through TouchPay. The jail page lists a $10 filing fee per bond and a $30 booking fee. It also cites CRS 16-4-102 and says bond and booking fees are never required as a condition of release, and the Sheriff must release an inmate within six hours of bond being posted under that statute.

Bond information is not the same as release eligibility. Some cases may require a court appearance, a no-bond hold, another agency hold, a warrant hold, or updated paperwork before release can occur. When the inmate profile and court docket do not match, call the detention facility for current custody status and use the court record channel for the court's order. The jail can explain custody, but the court controls the bond order and future hearing schedule.

Note: Bond amounts come from the court, so verify bond and release details with the jail before posting payment.

Jefferson County Inmate Visits

Jefferson County uses Securus Video Connect for all inmate visits. Visitors may visit remotely from home or use on-site kiosks in the jail lobby. Registration is required before scheduling. Remote visits require a Securus account, visitor access approval, scheduling after approval, and payment at scheduling. Visitors need a valid email address, government-issued photo ID for identity checks, the inmate's name and ID number, and a payment method.

The manifest assigns the official JCSO visitation page for this section.

The visitation source is important because it lists remote and on-site video windows, ID rules, scheduling rules, and the Securus Video Connect app. That app supports visits, scheduling, notifications, account management, and funds; it is not an app-only JCSO inmate lookup.

Jefferson County Inmate Mail

General mail uses the Securus Digital Mail Center. Original general mail is scanned and delivered electronically instead of being handed to inmates. Mail must include the inmate's full legal name and inmate ID number or it may be delayed or returned. General mail goes to Jefferson County Detention Facility, c/o Securus Digital Mail Center, PO Box 25938, Tampa, FL 33622.

Legal mail follows a different address: Jefferson County Detention Facility, PO Box 16700, Golden, CO 80402-6700. It must be marked "Legal Mail" or "Attorney-Client Privileged" and include attorney name, bar number, and firm address, or it may be processed as general mail. JCSO prohibits items that cannot be scanned or create safety risks, including cash, coins, gift cards, stickers, glitter, adhesives, Polaroid or Instax photos, perfume, lipstick residue, crayon, marker, paint, construction paper, and coated or laminated paper.

The official mail and phone rules page is assigned in the image manifest.

Mail for funds goes to Inmate Funds with the inmate's full name and ID if available, P.O. Box 16700, Golden, CO 80402-6700.

The money page connects roster information to a practical need: the inmate ID or full identifying information used for deposits.

Jefferson County Jail Record Requests

The online roster is not a complete jail-record archive. Former inmate information may be obtained through the JCSO Records Unit, and sheriff records are requested through the official records page or JCSO NextRequest. That route is used for booking, release, detention, incident, body-worn camera, background-check, and other law-enforcement records when they are not part of the current inmate lookup. Records may be redacted or withheld under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, especially when a case is active or protected information appears in the file.

JCSO also provides self-service iPads for records requests at the Main office, Mountain Precinct, and South Precinct. Medical records use a separate route through VitalCore, and the research notes Vitalrecords@jeffco.us with a HIPAA-compliant release. Those details matter when the requested inmate record is not a booking sheet, roster entry, or ordinary jail file.

Access also depends on the custody system. The county jail lookup covers current detainees at the Jefferson County Detention Facility. The Colorado Department of Corrections offender locator is the route for sentenced prisoners and parolees after transfer from county jail. The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator is the route for federal defendants and prisoners. FCI Englewood is nearby in Littleton, but it is a federal facility and not a Jefferson County jail.

Juvenile access is more limited. The inmate lookup excludes people under 18, and JCSO states juvenile records are restricted by law. A parent, guardian, attorney, agency, subject, or person with a court order may have access where the public does not. Court files, detention records, and sheriff records may each apply different proof-of-identity rules, so requesters should start with the custodian that created the record.
